Refugee Data 1.2

For over seventy years, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has been at the forefront of collecting and analyzing data concerning refugees, stateless individuals, and others compelled to flee their homes, in collaboration with various states and partners.

This focus on quality and timely data enables UNHCR and its partners to make well-informed decisions, optimize resource management, enhance communication strategies, and uphold accountability to beneficiaries, partners, and donors.

Currently, UNHCR generates and employs diverse types of data and statistics related to forced displacement and the populations affected by it. This includes:

• The humanitarian context and broader environment, encompassing social, economic, political, legal, and policy factors;
• Demographic information on affected individuals, which highlights their numbers, locations, and profiles, including specific vulnerabilities and needs;
• Operational data pertaining to the delivery of protection and assistance in response to the situation.
